Fabric near miss

So I taped my backing fabric to the floor, laid the wadding on top and spread the quilt top over the lot. I then got a nasty shock as my backing fabric was a lot smaller than it was meant to be. I thought all fabric was 45″ wide as standard, but this is 42″. I have just about an inch spare top and bottom so it’s about big enough and no more, and that’s only because I decided to make my border narrower than the pattern recommended. That was a lucky decision! Fingers crossed, all will go well with the quilting…
